Every year, Americans waste 75 million tons of food. This staggering amount represents $440 billion in lost value and has profound environmental consequences. Our project aims to visualize these statistics into comprehensible human-scale stories that help viewers understand the scope and impact of food waste in the United States.
Our visualizations are mainly based on the ReFED U.S. State Food Surplus Summary dataset, covering comprehensive food waste data from 2010-2023.
